Guide for Attendees: Using the ClimbUK Event App

As an attendee, the ClimbUK app (available via web browser and as a mobile app for iOS/Android) will be your best friend for making connections and navigating Climb26. Here’s how to get the most out of it:

Access and Login

After registering for Climb26, you will receive an invitation email to join the ClimbUK event on the app. For Climb25, these invites were sent out by ClimbUK a few weeks in advance. The invite will contain either a magic link or a join code unique to you. Click the link (or go to the app and enter the join code) to get into the Climb26 event. The first time, you’ll need to create a free ClimbUK app account – you can sign up using your email or Google account. Tip: Use the same email you used to purchase your ticket. Once your account is created and verified, you’ll be taken directly into the “Climb26” event space on the app. 

Set Up Your Profile

After joining the Climb26 event in the app, complete your attendee profile. Go to the profile section and fill in your name, job title, company, profile picture, and a short bio. Importantly, select your interests and goals when prompted. ClimbUK’s app will ask you to choose from various interest categories or topics. For example, you might tag that you’re interested in “FinTech” or “Networking” or “Looking for Investment.” Providing this info will help the system suggest relevant connections for you. Also, set your availability for meetings: the app may ask which time slots during the event you are free for 1:1 meetings. Make sure to allow the app to access your time zone or set it manually so meeting times are correct. 

Explore the Event Home & Agenda

The app’s home screen will show announcements and highlights. Navigate to the “Schedule” or “Agenda” tab to see the full Climb26 agenda. You can scroll through the schedule for each day. If you see sessions you’re interested in, bookmark them or add them to your personal agenda in the app. This way, you’ll get reminders and can avoid double-booking yourself with meetings during those times.

Networking – Finding People and Scheduling Meetings

Switch to the “Networking” or “People” tab (sometimes labeled “Attendees”). Here’s where the magic happens:

  • Matches: The app will show you a list of “Recommended” people or matches who share your interests (these might be under a sub-tab like “Your Matches”). These are attendees that the system thinks you should meet. It’s a great starting point – click on profiles to read about each person. 

  • All Attendees: You can also browse or search the entire attendee list (sub-tab may be “All attendees”). Filters allow you to narrow by industry, interests, or name. For example, you could search for “investor” or a company name.

  • Suggest a Meeting: Once you find someone you’d like to connect with, you can click “Suggest Meeting” on their profile. Select a time slot (the app will show available 15-minute slots during networking hours) and write a brief message introducing yourself and why you’d like to meet. With one click, the meeting request is sent. It will show as “pending” until the other person responds. (Pro tip: Be proactive! Don’t hesitate to send several meeting requests to key people you want to meet. You can manage up to dozens of meeting slots over two days.).

  • Chat or Connect: If you’re not ready to propose a meeting, or the person has no free slots, you can hit “Chat” to send them a message. Introduce yourself and perhaps arrange to meet informally. The first chat message might require clicking a “Start conversation” button after typing your intro.

  • Accepting/Managing Meetings: When someone else sends you a meeting request, you’ll get a notification (and an email). You can accept, decline, or request a different time. Accepted meetings will appear in the My Meetings or Schedule section. Once a meeting is accepted, the app automatically opens a chat thread between you and the other person so you can coordinate details (“Meeting accepted! 🎉” message appears).

  • Meeting Location: For in-person attendees, the meeting location will often be a numbered table in a networking area at Leeds Dock. The app might show something like “Table 5” for your meeting. There will be a designated area at the venue with numbered tables for scheduled 1:1 meetings. (Virtual attendees can meet via built-in video call; the app supports that too, but Climb26 is primarily in-person.)

Use QR Codes to Connect Instantly

The ClimbUK app provides a personal QR code for each attendee, found in the menu or at a QR icon on the home screen. During the event, you can scan someone’s badge QR (which corresponds to their app profile) using the app’s QR scanner. This instantly adds each other to your contacts in the app. It’s like exchanging digital business cards with one quick scan. All your scanned contacts will appear under a “Prospects” or “Contacts” list in the app for easy follow-up. This is extremely useful in busy expo halls – instead of fumbling for business cards, just scan and connect. 

During the Event – Live Features

 On the days of Climb26, the app will be indispensable. You can live chat during sessions, participate in polls or Q&A (if enabled by organizers) via the app, and continue to arrange ad-hoc meetings. If you find free time at the event, use the app’s global search or filter to see who else is available to meet. The app also will send you notifications about important announcements, or when someone messages you, so keep your phone handy and notifications enabled.

Post-Event

After Climb26, the app remains valuable. You’ll likely have a list of new connections with chat histories and contact info (whatever profile info people provided). You can follow up with messages through the app or export contacts. ClimbUK may keep the event app open for a period after the event, so you can continue conversations. Also, content like session recordings or slides might be shared in the app if available.

In summary, attendees should join the ClimbUK app early, fill in their profile, actively use the networking features, and keep an eye on the schedule. By doing so, you’re leveraging the full power of Climb26’s networking platform, turning a two-day event into many weeks’ worth of connections and conversations.
