How to attach files to tasks

Use this article when you need to upload a file through the portal task chatter composer.

Before you start

  • Open My Tasks while signed in to your Climb account.
  • Have the final PDF/ZIP on disk and confirm its filename is meaningful to other collaborators.

Who can do this

You need write access on the task’s chatter; portal followers typically have this unless record rules say otherwise.

Steps

  1. Open /my/tasks and select the task that needs evidence.
  2. Scroll to the chatter/message composer at the bottom of the task form.
  3. Use the attachment control bundled with the composer (paperclip) to pick a file from your device.
  4. Add a short message explaining what the file contains so reviewers see context in the thread.
  5. Press Send (or the equivalent post button) so the attachment is stored on the mail thread.
  6. Reload the task to confirm the attachment chip appears above the composer.

Check the result

  • The attachment appears for another signed-in portal user on the same task.
  • No confidential files were posted to the wrong task ID.

If something does not work

  • If Send stays disabled, ensure a message body or attachment is present—empty posts are blocked.
  • If the upload spins forever, compress the asset or split it into smaller archives.
